Soaring high vocals are contrasted with buried, pitched-down hip hop sampling in our latest dose of emotional conflict from Brighton-based one-man-army KianVsLife. Seamlessly transcending time and genre yet again, psyched-out guitar riffs wander off into the distance as heavy kicks plod through a rose-tinted kaleidoscope of influences. In many ways Kian is the embodiment of Brighton music as a whole, with hip hop, pop, alternative and indie all emanating from his DIY, bedroom studio. All we need now is a punk track and we’ll never need to book another Brighton artist again. On second thoughts, maybe we shouldn’t goad him.
